PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY OF DOUG LOCKHART
- Doug Lockhart Raised in the Cowichan Valley; graduated from Cowichan Secondary School in 1974.
- Graduated with top honours from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology with a degree in Air Conditioning Engineering Technology in 1976.
- Became a partner in a Duncan-based refrigeration company in 1976 and worked in the field for 3 1/2 years.
- Returned to SAIT in June 1981 to earn Interprovincial ticket. Graduated with honours. Apprenticed under Honeywell in Calgary, AB where he gained his heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) control experience.
- Returned to the Cowichan Valley later in 1981 and bought out his retiring partner. Lockhart Industries (1981) Ltd. was registered.
- Was certified as a York heat pump dealer in 1982.
- Certified as a B Class electrical contractor in March 1982.
- In April 1982, passed stringent examinations and qualified to join the Society of Engineering Technologists; earned professional title of Applied Science Technologist.
- Successfully completed an environmental awareness course on ozone depleting substances in 1994.
- In November 1995, received training to become certified by the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA).
- Qualified in March 1996 and certified as an installer of GeoExchange heat pumps for WaterFurnace International.
- Designed, built and patented an prototype digital refrigeration analyzer.
- Continues to enjoy the challenge of custom design and installation of energy efficient refrigeration systems.
